User Info: Email Updates
This post has been read 200 times!
I thought I’d post some information on our email notifications of updated content since the first messages appeared broken when they really weren’t.
The summaries are generated by WordPress for RSS feeds and we’re using Google/Feedburner to generate and send the notifications. The settings in WordPress were for a summary of the post and not the full content. When the notification went out it appeared broken because the summary just ended after a certain number of words, without explanation that the whole post was available to read on the website.
At this point, I don’t know how to add a statement like that to the notifications so I changed the settings to allow for full content and not just a summary that leaves you hanging in the middle of a sentence. So, future posts, like this one, will appear in their entirety in the notifications.
Another issue – only new posts are included in the feeds and notifications. Any new contents or updates that are added to the various pages on the website are not and we’d like to remedy that somehow – maybe by making a post listing new content and recent updates for the day/week/month. This issue is still being explored.
