At the 100th anniversary of Meher Baba’s birth in Los Angeles, Naosherwan Anzar was the guest speaker, and spoke of his experiences of Baba’s entombment. The peak dramatic moment Noasherwan spoke of was a time of being alone with Baba in the tomb, during the few days when He was still visible. Noasherwan was missing Baba very much,and for one brief moment, Baba opened his eyes and looked at him, which very much assured Noasherwan that Baba would always be with him. I don’t for one minute think that this means that Meher Baba was buried alive! What it did demonstrate, to me at least, is the all-knowing ability of Meher Baba to know the mind of his lover, and to instantly respond to his needs.

Barry Beckett was there when this happened. He talked to me about it all the time over the years. He saw it very clearly. I believe he even wrote an article about it. You might check it out with his daughter.

Jai Baba Ken. I just read the review in the Glow of ‘Speaking the Unspeakable’ and would like to read it. I live in Australia – not near the big cities or Avatars Abode – so it’s difficult to keep up with new publications. The review said your booklet was just 24 pages long, so I’m wondering if it’s possible to be sent a ‘cyber copy’ of some kind?

I had never read Bhau’s statements so clearly presented. Thank you for posting them. I read from Listen, Humanity last night about Don Steven’s initial reaction to Baba’s silence and how he later resolved it. He says he had about five major reservations preventing him from accepting Baba’s claim of divinity, one being his silence: “Further, undertaking silence, and then using the subterfuge of an alphabet board for communication, seemed childish.” (page 201) But over a period of years he worked through these objections. “The question of observing silence was also soon parried into neutrality. An unusual series of drains on my energies left me completely knocked out for several months, and when I was at lowest ebb I tried speaking just as little as possible. To my astonishment I found that it was of marked help. From this point it was an easy step to realize that a great spiritual teacher might easily wish to conserve energy for vital spiritual activities. My answer might be wrong, but at least I could see a ray of reason.” I’m going to insert a personal opinion about Baba’s silence here. Once Baba said that, I can’t remember the exact words, when a spiritual master speaks or conveys truth through the spoken word it is the most powerful medium for the listener. I don’t know where that quote originates, sorry. I feel that Baba wished to remain somewhat unknown while alive so that he would live long without public fanfare and attention, and keeping silence maintained his public obscurity, and may have preserved his life from great public attention and the danger involved in proclaiming oneself as God incarnate. That’s just my conjecture. There are many, many unknowns about Baba’s gift of silence. Thank you again for the interesting statements from Bhau.
